Brisbane Bus Lines are proud to announce their support of the first Oxfam Trailwalker Brisbane event to be held in D’Aguilar National Park from June 17-19, 2011.
Oxfam Trailwalker is the Ultimate Team Challenge - tackle 100km of Australian bush as a team within 48 hours and make a difference by raising funds to help overcome poverty in Australia and around the world.
Brisbane Bus Lines have come on board with this event in the form of providing participant transportation from the check-in point at Bellbird Grove Recreation Area, the Gap, up through the D’Aguilar National Park to the start point at Maiala Picnic Area on Mt Glorious Road.
Trailwalker Coordinator Brett Long says the assistance provided by Brisbane Bus Lines has been vital in helping coordinate a safe and organised event for all participants, spectators and their families.
“On Friday 17 June, 1200 of our event participants will hop on a Brisbane Bus Lines bus in the Gap and head up to Mt Glorious where they will start their 100km journey...If it wasn’t for Brisbane Bus Lines coming on board, we would have had to make them walk!” Mr Long said.
Participants will commence the event on Friday Morning June 17 from 7am and embark on the 100km journey with the first finishers anticipated approximately 12 hours later.
All proceeds from the event go to Oxfam Australia, with funds used to carry out their vital work and enable the people they help to bring positive change in their lives.
Oxfam Trailwalker in Australia has raised more than $35million since 1999 and with almost $500 000 currently raised for this year’s event Brisbane’s first Trailwalker is shaping up to be a huge success.
