Registering your children for school bus travel
Brisbane Bus Lines requires all students who travel on our services to be registered with us. Benefits to registration include:
- Helping us monitor passenger numbers across our network.
- Let’s us keep you updated (via email) on any changes to our school bus network.
- Provides us with emergency contact information.
Students under 18 years of age and attending an educational institution are welcome to use your bus services.
Your data privacy is important to us – please review our Privacy Policy if you have any concerns.

Are you eligible for the School Transport Assistance Scheme?
You may be eligible for assistance with travel costs through Translink’s School Transport Assistance Scheme (STAS) if you meet certain criteria:
- If you have a primary student and live more than 3.2km from your nearest state school
- You are a secondary student and live more than 4.8km from your nearest state school, or a student on a concession card, you may be eligible.
The STAS subsidy covers the cost of travel between home and a students closest state school. Students do not need to attend their closest state school to be eligible. Students travelling beyond their closest state school will need to pay a top-up fare for the extra distance travelled to their attended school.
Please note: Parents or carers with children in shared care arrangements must submit two separate applications (one for each residential address). This will allow a student to use the school bus service from both addresses.
